Using Attributes

In Ediphi, Attributes are estimate variables that can be used in quantity formulas and managed at an estimate level. Attributes can be wide-ranging, from variables such as “Depth of Bedrock”, to more specific variables such as a "Footing Waste Factor".

How to create Attributes

Creating an Attribute within an Estimate is simple and easy to do. Open any Estimate you are working on and you will see a menu at the top of your page called Attributes. Here is where you can manually create an Attribute and assign a value to it. The value will then be used within formulas throughout the platform.

How to use Attributes

After creating Attributes, you can now utilize them for your line item calculations via quantity formulas. There are 3 ways to open the Formula Editor; clicking on the blue "potion" icon on a line item, right-clicking the Qty. cell of a line item and selecting Edit Quantity Formula, and lastly, using the Keyboard Shortcut which is: clicking into the Qty. cell of a line item and typing =, then hitting Enter on your keyboard.

Once in the Formula Editor, you will have the option of adding an Attribute to the formula. In this pop-up, select the "Add" button (➕) and select Attribute. A dropdown will appear that shows your list of Attributes and their respective values. Select one to add and click Save. You will now see the Qty. and Total amounts adjust.

Note: Check out our Quantity Formulas article on how to add, edit, and delete formulas.

Without an Attribute, a user would need to select every line that could potentially use that waste factor and manually adjust it. Attributes allow users to simply adjust the corresponding value, which then updates all formulas using it to fit the needs of the estimate.

Pro Tip: You can delete Attributes by right-clicking them in the Attribute window.
