Line Item Dependency
Ediphi offers the ability to link line item quantities to the quantities of other line items. In essence, the quantity of one line item can be incorporated into the dynamic formula of another line item, leading to automatic updates for any dependent line items. This streamlines the process, offering increased efficiency and less manual input. See how to do this below!

How to Create a Line Item Dependency
To create a line item Dependency, right-click on the line item, and select the Edit Quantity Formula option (Alternatively, you can type "=" within the line item's Quantity cell and press Enter). A pop-up will appear, allowing you to create a dynamic formula for this line item. See this article for more information on Quantity Formulas.
Upon the appearance of the quantity formula modal, you will have the option to choose the Line Item value. This selection will enable you to specify the Estimate Use Group where the line item is situated (or you can choose All). Proceed to select the particular Estimate Line Item you wish to pull it's quantity from, and click Save. This line item is now dependent on the quantity of the other line item.
Note: After creating a Dependency, try changing the quantity value of the line item that it's dependent on. Watch the quantity of the dependent automatically re-calculate, saving you from having to change this manually!
How to View Existing Dependents
To view if a line item has dependents assigned to it, right-click on the line item. You will see a Show Dependents option on the drop-down list if there are existing dependents assigned to it.
Click on Show Dependents, and a pop-up window will appear presenting all the line items that utilize the quantity of this particular line item in a formula.
Pro Tip: Need to view the line item on the original estimate? Right-click on any line item within the Line Item Dependents list, and select Navigate to Line Item. The platform will take you directly to the line item within the estimate.
Deleting Line Items with Dependents
If at any point you need to delete a line item that has dependents, the platform will automatically prompt you to confirm the deletion, providing you with a list of each line item that's dependent on it, and informing you that any formulas where this line item's quantity is being used under will break if deleted. Click Confirm to proceed.
You can always easily find all the line items within your estimate with broken formulas, by going to the Line Items view and under the Formula Status filter, selecting Broken.
