Use Group Allocation in Estimates
In Ediphi, allocating Use Groups to Line Items helps users determine how much of each Use Group should be assigned to a line item. When multiple Use Groups are assigned to a Line Item, it may not be necessary to distribute an equal amount to each. This article explains how to update Use Groups on a line item, allowing you to specify the percentage allocated to each.

How to Allocate Use Groups in a Line Item
- Find the Line Item you wish to allocate, and click the Use Group below the Use Group column.
- Click on either the gear icon (if there's a Use Group already assigned to the line item), or the new Use Group icon (if no Use Group has been assigned to the line item).
- Select the specific Use Groups you want to Allocate, and drag the bar to specify the percentage allocation in each (see below gif).
- Click Save.
How to Create Allocations
By following these steps below, users can create a general allocation that can be assigned to a line item via the allocation dropdown, eliminating the need to manually select Use Groups and set percentages for each item. This allocation acts as a “preset” for the Estimate. If edits are needed later, these steps will automatically update all line items using that allocation, rather than requiring individual modifications.
- In your Estimate, hover your cursor over Use Groups and select Manage Allocations.
- Click the New Allocation button.
- Input the Allocation name and click Save.
- Next to your new Allocation, enter in the percentages you’d like to see have allocated to each Use Group. The total of the percentages must equal 100%, otherwise a red exclamation mark will be shown. Once the total equals 100%, the red exclamation mark will turn to a green check mark.
- Once finished, click Save.
How to Edit Allocations
- In your Estimate, hover your curser over Use Groups.
- Select Manage Allocations.
- Make any updates you wish (Description or Allocation Percentages).
- Click Save.
Note: Updating allocations here will automatically update all line items using these allocations, as they serve as the “preset” for your Estimate.
How to Delete Allocations
- In your Estimate, hover your cursor over Use Groups.
- Select Manage Allocations.
- Right-click on the Allocation you wish to delete.
- Select Delete Allocation preset.
- Click the Confirm button.
- Click Save.
Note: When editing Use Group Allocations within a line item, users have the ability to select Proportional from the dropdown list. This preset distributes allocations based on the square footage of each selected Use Group.
