LMSEO (Labor, Materials, Sub, Equipment, Other)
In Ediphi, the LMSEO columns—Labor, Materials, Subcontractor, Equipment, and Other—make it easy for users to view the total cost breakdown of each line item, helping them better manage and support their budgets. This feature not only shows how each total is calculated, but also allows users to adjust the values to update the unit cost accordingly. The LMSEO columns are available in both the Detailed Summary and Line Items tabs.
To start, click the arrow above Unit Cost to expand the LMSEO columns.

LMSEO Columns
Below is a breakdown of how each value is defined and calculated within the LMSEO columns:
Labor UC: Labor Rate x hrs/UoM = Labor UC
- Changing labor rate or hrs/UoM will automatically update Labor UC
- Overriding Labor UC will gray out Labor Rate and hrs/UoM
Labor Rate: Cost of labor per hour
hrs/UoM: Total number of hours per unit of measurement (ex. number of hours it takes to install one generator)
Material UC: Cost of materials per unit
Equip. UC: Cost of equipment per unit
Sub UC: Cost of sub per unit
Other UC: Other cost per unit
LMSEO Totals Columns
Here's a breakdown of how the totals in the LMSEO columns are derived:
Total Labor: Labor UC x Qty
Total Material: Material UC x Qty
Total Sub: Sub UC x Qty
Total Equip: Equip. UC x Qty
Total Other: Other UC x Qty
Labor Hours: hrs/UoM x Qty
UoM/hr: Shows unit of measurement per hour (ex. number of square feet painted in an hour)
Understanding Value Overrides
Grayed-out numbers indicate that part of their underlying calculation has been manually overridden. Here's how this behavior works:
- Cascading Grayout: If a value used in a calculation is grayed out, any value that depends on it will also appear grayed out.
- Example: If Labor Unit Cost is overridden and grayed out, Total labor will automatically gray out as well.
- Unit Cost Overrides: Overriding the Unit Cost will gray out all associated totals and calculated fields within the LMSEO columns.
- All-or-Nothing Behavior: You will never see only one Total or Unit Cost grayed out in isolation. If one is overridden and grayed out, all related fields will follow suit to maintain consistency.
- Clearing Overrides: Clearing the Unit Cost removes the override. Any grayed-out values linked to it will return to their normal state.
- Overriding Totals: You can override Total values directly. Doing so will back-calculate the corresponding Unit Cost and gray out fields like Labor Rate and Hrs/UoM.
- UoM Conversions: Changing UoM/hr will update hrs/UoM, and vice versa; these two fields are inversely linked.
Note: Users cannot manually enter a value of 0 in the Unit Cost field if any LMSEO values are present. When LMSEO inputs exist, the Unit Cost is automatically calculated based on those values. If a user attempts to enter 0, the platform will recalculate and repopulate the Unit Cost value using the existing LMSEO data.
To enter a true 0 Unit Cost, all LMSEO values must first be cleared.
