Managing Spec Sections (Contracting)

In Ediphi, you have the ability to add and organize Spec Sections within the Contracting section of your project. Spec Sections are a vital part of construction documentation as they are assigned to Bid Packages.

Adding Spec Sections

You can add Spec Sections in 2 ways: manually, or pasting from clipboard.

How to add manually

  1. Select Contracting from the Main Menu of your project.
  2. Open a Bid Group.
  3. Click on the Spec Sections tab.
  4. Hit the "Add" button.
  5. Enter in the Section, Description, and select a Bid Package. Hit Create.

Pro Tip: Only Section and Description are required fields in order to create a Spec Section, however we always recommend assigning a Bid Package to it, so that your Spec Section automatically shows under that specified Bid Package.

How to paste from clipboard

  1. Open any spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, etc.) and create 3 columns: Section, Description, and Bid Package.
  2. Fill in these columns with your relevant Spec Sections.
  3. Highlight only the cells with information (not including the column headers).
  4. Right-click then select Copy or hold down the keys "CTRL + C" to copy.
  5. Within Ediphi, Select Contracting from the Main Menu of your project.
  6. Click on Spec Sections.
  7. Hit the "Paste from Clipboard" button.

Pro Tip: In your spreadsheet for Bid Packages, Ediphi will try to match the Bid Package automatically even if you only enter a portion of the name. In the example above, we only typed "Concrete" in our spreadsheet and the platform picked up the full Bid Package name of "0330 - Concrete - Concrete" after pasting.

To delete a Spec Section, you can right-click any cell, then select Delete. To delete multiple Spec Sections in bulk, select one Spec Section then scroll down to select a range, right-click any cell, then select Delete. You can also use the SHIFT key + arrow keys to select in bulk.

Using Spec Sections

After adding Spec Sections, you can now utilize them in your Scope Sheet within Contracting. Here you can Add/Manage your Use Groups for your Spec Sections. Once your Use Groups are ready for use, you can head to your Spec Sections to associate those Scope Items to a Use Group by hitting the blue ➕ icon.
