Managing an Estimate
Estimates are the heart of Ediphi, serving as the backbone of every project and the starting point for successful planning. They capture the essential details that shape your project's budget and workflow, making them a critical step in your process. In this article, we'll walk you though how to create, duplicate, and delete an estimate in a few simple steps, allowing you to set your project up for success right from the start.
In this article:
Creating an Estimate
- Open the project where you want to create your estimate. Click Create New, then select Estimate.

Pro Tip: You can also create estimates from the Estimate List view by clicking the ellipsis within each dropdown. If creating from a Milestone dropdown, the platform automatically pre-fills the Milestone in your creation form.

- A modal will appear, where you'll be able to fill in the Estimate Name (required), Estimate Due Date, select a GCGR if applicable, and assign a Milestone. You can also mark this estimate as Primary if needed.

Note: If your project doesn’t have any milestones yet, you can create one right from here by clicking Create New Milestone within the Milestones dropdown. A modal will appear where you can create and assign the milestone to your estimate.

A Milestone is not required in order to create an estimate. You can always click "Discard and return to Estimate Create" to go back.
For more details, check out these articles:
- Once you've added the information, click Create Estimate. Once saved, you’ll be taken directly to your new estimate.

Duplicating an Estimate
Duplicating an estimate in Ediphi is a quick way to save time and effort, especially when starting a new project that’s similar to work you’ve done before. Instead of building an estimate from scratch, you can simply copy an existing one; either within the same project or to another active project in your account.
- In the Estimates List view, click the ellipsis menu (⋯) next to the estimate you want to duplicate, and select Duplicate.

Pro Tip: Alternatively, you also have a dedicated button within the Estimate List to easily duplicate estimates within the project (or to other projects you have access to).

- Choose whether to duplicate the estimate to the Current Project or another active project you are a member of, and edit the Estimate Name as needed (both required). You also have the option to assign an Estimate Due Date, and a Milestone (if applicable within the project the estimate is being duplicated to). You can also mark the duplicate estimate as Primary.

- Once you've added all the information, click Save. You’ll be taken directly to your newly duplicated estimate, ready for any adjustments or updates.

Note: If the estimate you’re duplicating is linked to a GCGR, a copy of that GCGR will also be created in the destination project to ensure data remains consistent.
Note: If your estimate or project uses custom Sort Fields or Sort Codes, these will transfer during duplication. The exact behavior depends on what’s available in the source and destination projects. For more details, check out our article on Cross-Project Estimate Duplication Logic (for Sort Fields).
Deleting an Estimate
In the Estimates List view, click the ellipsis menu (⋯) next to the estimate you want to delete, and select Delete.

A pop-up message will appear reminding you this action is permanent. Once confirmed, click Delete.

Note: Primary Estimates cannot be deleted. If you need to delete a Primary Estimate, it must be removed from Primary Status first.
