Using Geometry Worksheets

In Ediphi, Geometry Worksheets are used to create and store the geometry of certain aspects of a job such as a footing schedule or slab dimensions. The information contained in a Geometry Worksheet can then be used within quantity formulas.

How to create Geometry Worksheets

Creating a Geometry Worksheet within an Estimate is simple and easy to do. Open any Estimate you are working on and you will see a menu at the top of your page called Geometry. Here is where you can manually create a Geometry Worksheet by clicking New Worksheet, and assign Dimensions and Quantities to the worksheet calculations. After you create your worksheet, you will need to select Add Calculation to add the geometries to your worksheet. You can then use these calculations within formulas throughout the platform.

How to use Geometry Worksheets

After creating your Geometry Worksheets, you can utilize them in line item calculations via quantity formulas. There are 3 ways to open the Formula Editor; clicking on the blue "potion" icon on a line item, right-clicking the Qty. cell of a line item and selecting Edit Quantity Formula, and lastly, using the Keyboard Shortcut which is: clicking into the Qty. cell of a line item and typing =, then hitting Enter on your keyboard.

Note: When in the Geometry Worksheet window, you can right-click any light-gray cell and select Edit Quantity Formula to open the Formula Editor.

Once in the Formula Editor, you will have the option of adding a Geometry Value to the formula. In this pop-up, select the "Add" button (➕) and select Geometry. The platform will have you select the Geometry Worksheet you want to pull the data from, the specific Calculation you are trying to use, and the specific Column of that Calculation. After selecting your values you will now see the Qty. and Total amounts automatically adjust.

Note: Check out our Quantity Formulas article on how to add, edit, and delete formulas.
